Our take on Crimson desert
Crimson Desert suits players who enjoyed Black Desert Online or other open-world action RPGs and want a story-driven adventure with weapon-based combat and large-scale boss fights. It also works well for anyone who likes exploring a big fantasy world at their own pace, since it mixes fishing, cooking, crafting and hunting alongside the main story.
Before buying, check which edition you are getting. The Standard Edition is the base game only, while the Deluxe Edition adds the Crimson Desert Deluxe Pack. Confirm which storefront the key activates on, since a key for Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox or PlayStation will not work on another platform, and saves do not carry over between platforms either. If you plan to play on PC, note that the game uses Denuvo, which needs an occasional online check even though the core game can otherwise be played offline.
As a major new release, Crimson Desert is unlikely to see steep discounts soon after launch, so it is worth comparing listings carefully rather than assuming the first one you see is the best deal. Check the seller's activation region and refund policy before buying, since key resellers can vary in what they cover.

Crimson Desert is an open-world action adventure game developed by Pearl Abyss, the studio behind Black Desert Online.
Set on the continent of Pywel, the story follows Kliff and his fellow mercenaries in the Greymanes band after a devastating attack by their rivals, the Black Bears, scatters the group. As Kliff searches for his missing companions, a larger threat emerges: a mysterious force trying to unleash the power of the Abyss, a realm whose fragments have already fallen into Pywel. Two other playable characters, Oongka and Damiane, join the story later and can be freely explored, each with their own combat style and side quests.
Combat blends melee weapons, horseback fighting and elemental abilities, building up to large scale encounters against giant creatures such as dragons. Outside of battle, Pywel supports fishing, cooking, crafting and hunting, giving players ways to interact with the world beyond the main story.
