Our take on Manor Lords
Manor Lords suits players who enjoy slow, methodical city builders and don't mind an early access game that is still being expanded. It's a good fit for fans of Banished, Anno or Kingdom Come who want to plan streets by hand, manage grain stores through winter, and occasionally lead troops into a real time skirmish.
Before buying, check which storefront a key activates on. Manor Lords is sold through Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store, and a key bought for one platform will not work on another, so confirm the activation platform matches where you actually want to play. There is currently a single standard edition, so there are no deluxe or bonus content tiers to compare. If you use Xbox Game Pass for PC, the game is included there, which is worth checking before paying for a separate key.
Because the game is still in early access, updates arrive periodically and can add new maps, systems or game modes at no extra cost. Prices on key sites do move around over the course of the year, so it can be worth comparing more than one store rather than buying the first listing you see.
About Manor Lords
Manor Lords is a medieval city builder that blends economic simulation with real time tactical combat. Players start with a small settlement and grow it into a working town, managing resources like timber, clay and iron, laying out grid free streets and buildings, and balancing food production against a growing population.
Beyond city building, the game layers in territory control. Armies of levied townsfolk and hired retinues can be moved across a regional map and fought in real time battles using historical formations such as shield walls and spearmen squares. Trade routes, taxation and seasonal changes all affect how a settlement develops.
Developed by a solo developer under the studio name Slavic Magic, Manor Lords is currently in Steam Early Access, with content added through major updates since its 2024 launch.
